Whether you’re working in your garden or out in the city and thinking about your garden, it’s always nice to have some tried and true podcasts to fall back on.
Here are five great podcasts about botany/gardening/horticulture/plants that I’ve found myself gravitating to, listed in alphabetical order.
Black in the Garden
Black in the Garden is for all of us out there who love deep dives into historical figures, cultural trends, and anything else related to botany.
This is a good one for anyone who likes NPR-type podcasts (i.e., focused discussions that stay on topic).
Each episode is about 20 minutes to an hour long, with an average episode being about 40 minutes long, and they come out weekly on Tuesdays.
Growing Greener
Every episode of Growing Greener focuses on a specific topic in horticulture such as new tools, techniques, or movements that can help make gardening (and agriculture in general) more sustainable.
This is a good one for people who want to come away from each podcast episode with one main idea.
Each episode is pretty much exactly a half hour long, and they come out weekly on Wednesdays.
Let’s Argue About Plants: The Fine Gardening Podcast
Let’s Argue About Plants is, as the title suggests, Fine Gardening’s podcast, and each episode features the hosts talking about plants that you can put in your garden for various purposes.
This is a good one for people who want to use a podcast to directly help them make their shopping list or design their garden.
Each episode is about an hour long, and they come out every two weeks on Fridays.
The Plantastic Podcast with Dr. Jared
The Plantastic Podcast is a more general show about horticulture where the host interviews an interesting guest helping to spread love for everything plants in their own way.
This is a good one for people who like interview podcasts, though it is absolutely focused on horticulture.
Each episode is about an hour long, and they seem to come out every month or so; it’s fairly irregular.
The Plant Pusher
Finally, The Plant Pusher is less about the garden itself and more about the fruits of your garden.
This is a good one if you’re looking for episodes diving into specific foods, what you can do with them, and what they can do for you.
Each episode is under 10 minutes long, and they come out weekly on Mondays.
